The BAWA Badminton Club was invited to participate in the 2010 "Dehring Cup" and the "Jan Leopold Memorial Shield" veteran's tournament which was held at Narrogin on the 11th & 12th September 2010.

BAWA entered 2 teams, one for the Division 1 Dehring Cup, and Division 2 Jan Leopold Shield.

After dominating for the past 2 years, unfortunately both our teams were unsuccessful this year.

All our players and loyal supporters enjoyed the weekend together.

October 2011 - Charity Golf Tournament

Following on from the very successful 1st BAWA Charity Golf Day in May this year, the Committee and myself set about organizing the 2nd BAWA Charity Golf Day. The date was set, the venue was confirmed and the “Golf” ball started rolling.

On Sunday the 23rd of October 2011 the Gosnells Golf Club once again hosted our Charity Golf Day. The weather was magnificent, the crowd were restless and after a quick brief on the Practice Putting Green from yours truly, 76 players were sent out to do battle on the sensational rolling plains of The Gosnells Golf Club.

Fast forward four and a bit hours and the hungry, battle-weary warriors were making their way back to The Club House. Thanks to the hard work of The Prez and his loyal, dedicated committee, a delicious Chicken and Potato Curry and Rice was ready to feed the mass hordes. The Curry and Rice was demolished vigorously much to everyone’s delight.

After perusal of the scoring cards, there were some great scores recorded and some not-so-great scores recorded. Taking out Top Honours for the day was the team of Pat Quinlivan, Lee Wisson, Tony Scrimshaw and Reg Kelly. Allegedly, all players in the team are Gosnells Members and the local knowledge was a significant factor in the resounding victory. Very well done Boyz. You handed out a lesson in how to play sensational Team Golf. Through whispers and conversations, the rest of the playing group all had a very enjoyable and happy day out as well. Congratulations also goes out to all the Novelty Trophy winners. Well done to everyone.

The final presentation was slightly marred by an overzealous and over-the-limit “Organizer”. Extensive video footage has resulted in the Culprit being cited and charged accordingly, however, with MY previous good record, allowances have been made and I’ve been placed on a Good Behaviour Bond, with assurances there will be no repeat performance!.......

In closing, many people need to be acknowledged and thanked.

To Denzil, Soso and the Committee for all their wonderful and tireless hard work........

To Pat Quinlivan and The Gosnells Golf Club.......

To Jim Lalley for the creation and Donation of the sensational Novelty/Perpetual Trophies......

To all the Captains for their great work in managing their Teams......

To each and every person who donated prizes and helped out in any little way......

To my close family/friends and helpers: Colin Roach, Jarrad Chromow and Himal Bhatt.....

And last but certainly not least, To all the players who participated in this Event to make it a successful, enjoyable day and help raise money for the Orphans in Burma!......

I hope to see everyone in The 3rd BAWA Charity Golf Day in 6 months time......

Thank you to all once again, be safe keep safe and always remember, WE’RE DOING IT FOR THE KIDS!!!!!!..........
